Serbia vs Wales
World Cup Qualifiers – Europe (Group D)
Date: Sunday, 11th June 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Rajko Mitic.
Serbia finally have a genuine opportunity to end the dismal period and secure an appearance on a major tournament after a series of unsuccessful qualifying campaigns.
The Eagles currently hold the top of the standings in group D and the potential victory in Sunday’s clash with Wales would see them much closer to World Cup in Russia 2018.
Newcastle’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Southampton’s Dusan Tadic have been fantastic so far notching four goals in five matches each.
Slavoljub Muslin’s men showed fantastic attacking displays so far in the campaign as they bagged at least two goals in four of five qualifiers.
Serbia will be looking to win the match at the center of the park since their midfielders have enjoyed fantastic seasons with their clubs. Luka Milivojevic exploded in Crystal palace’s shirt in the second part of Premier League season, while Nemanja Radoja was one of the leading figures in Celta’s journey to the Europa League semifinal.
Chris Coleman’s men are four points behind the Serbs at the top of the standings and they will be desperate to get the victory, but it will be a mission impossible without theirs tar man Gareth Bale who is suspended ahead of what might prove out to be a crucial game for the national team.
On the bright side, the Dragons are yet to suffer a defeat in this qualifying term, but they played four consecutive draws netting only once in last two clashes with Serbia and Republic of Ireland.
Serbia vs Wales: Head to head
The two sides were drawn to the same group for the previous term of WC Qualifications as well. The Eagles claimed two demolishing wins with the goal differential of 9-1.
Wales are much more competitive now after they featured EURO 2016 in France, but even though Bale pushed them in front at the half-hour mark, they allowed a very important equalizer for the Serbians as Aleksandar Mitrovic made it all square five minutes from time.
Serbia vs Wales: Prediction
The hosts have a massive opportunity to take advantage of Bale’s absence and maintain the fine attacking form on the home court.
We’ll back Serbia to claim the victory as the top betting prediction at 7/10.
