Serbia vs Georgia
World Cup Qualifiers – Europe (Group D)
Date: Monday, 9th October 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Rajko Mitić (Belgrade).
It’s all set for the huge celebration in the Serbian capital of Belgrade on Monday evening when they host Georgia in the last match of the WC Qualification campaign.
Things could hardly be simpler for the hosts as they need a three-pointer in order to book their tickets for Russia no matter of the other results in the group.
Orlovi (the Eagles) have been flying high in the last couple of months winning three and drawing one of their last four qualifiers.
Slavoljub Muslin’s men are thus coming into the final two fixtures in a superb form and we just can’t see them blowing all up on the closing day against one of the weakest sides in the group.
Roma’s Aleksandar Kolarov was the man who launched them at the very top of the standings with a goal at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, while Dusan Tadic and Aleksandar Mitrovic contributed a lot throughout the entire campaign.
The Serbs will, however, need to be careful as Georgia are undefeated in last five matches netting at least a goal in each of them.
This includes back-to-back draws with Serbia’s main rivals in the battle for the top of the standings Republic of Ireland and Wales in September’s fixtures.
Serbia vs Georgia: Head to head
The two sides have met each other for the first time ever in late-March this year when Serbians managed a comeback to pick up a 1-3 victory from Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi.
Dusan tadic, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Mijat Gacinovic were on target for Muslin’s side.
Serbia vs Georgia: Prediction
The home win should not come in question, but we would not be shocked to see the visitors maintaining the fine attacking form and scoring a goal in what could easily be a high-scoring contest at Rajko Mitic Stadion.
