Sassuolo vs Benevento
Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 15 April 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: MAPEI Stadium – Città del Tricolore (Reggio Emilia).
Will Benevento finally end their wait for a long-awaited away win on Sunday? They’ll be looking to achieve just that as they take on a Sassuolo side with the worst home form in the division.
Le Streghe are still rooted to the bottom of the table and time is rapidly running out if they want to have any hopes of avoiding the drop. All of their points have come at home, and they come into this game having suffered a 4-2 loss to Juventus. However, that was hardly a surprise, although they did put up a good fight to score two goals against the reigning champs, who actually had to work to earn their win.
The Neroverdi, oddly, are a side who have actually won fewer games at home (2) versus on the road (5) this term. To complicate matters, Sassuolo have scored a measly seven goals in front of their own fans and with 21 in total, are the weakest attack out of any of the 20 teams, including even upcoming opponents Benevento, who have fared slightly better with 26 goals.
Cheick Diabaté has been in solid scoring form, despite Benevento’s struggles, and has netted a brace in his last two games for Le Streghe, so will be looking to add to his tally here. However, Sassuolo are unbeaten in their last five games, with draws against AC Milan and Napoli (with the latter taking place at this ground), so they certainly will not present an easy foe for strugglers Benevento.
Sassuolo vs Benevento: Head-to-head statistics
- Benevento have lost 26 of their last 31 matches
- There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Sassuolo’s last 3 games
- Benevento have scored at least 2 goals in their last 3 matches
- Sassuolo have drawn their last 3 matches
Sassuolo vs Benevento: Prediction
Sassuolo do have their problems at home, but the Neroverdi did manage to hold Napoli to a draw at this ground and are unbeaten in their last five games. Benevento, meanwhile have won just one of their last five. Can they take advantage of Sassuolo’s scoring woes and pick up something here? They are a whopping 14 points from safety, and it’s now or never for the Serie A debutants.
