Sassuolo vs AC Milan
Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday 30 September 2018
Kick-Off: 19:30 UK,
Venue: MAPEI Stadium (Reggio Emilia).
Sassuolo will hope to cause more headaches for AC Milan as the Neroverdi take on their familiar foes on Sunday. Four years ago, the plucky outfit cost Massimiliano Allegri his job in January 2014 when Domenico Berardi wrote his name into the history books by netting a poker against the Diavolo in a 4-3 win for Sassuolo. Will they cause more misery for Gennaro Gattuso’s men this time around?
The Neroverdi have already taken down one Milan side – Inter – this season and have proven to be a bogey side for Italy’s bigger clubs since bursting onto the Serie A scene in 2013. And as things stand in the table, it’s Sassuolo who would be playing in the Champions League, whilst Milan would be watching from the sidelines if the season ended this weekend. The Neroverdi have had a brilliant start to the season, only losing once to Juventus, and that was a narrow 2-1 defeat in Turin.
Sassuolo come into this game having seen off SPAL without many of their key players available as they opted to rotate their squad. Clearly, the hosts wanted to have all of their stars available for the upcoming visit of Milan at the weekend as they’re not involved in any European games, and the fact that they beat a SPAL side who have also been quite solid with a rotated squad speaks volumes about the growing confidence of the Neroverdi.
By contrast, Milan have struggled yet again and sit in 14th spot, just two points ahead of the drop zone and come into this game having stumbled to yet another frustrating draw – this time against Empoli – showing that newly promoted sides continue to be a problem for Gattuso. That marked the third straight draw for Milan, who failed to pick up all three points against an out of sorts Atalanta and against Cagliari.

Sassuolo vs AC Milan: Prediction
To be honest, this game couldn’t come at a better time for Sassuolo, who will be brimming with confidence after their strong results so far this season. Milan simply can’t seem to find their footing and could again struggle to get a result here, although the fact that Sassuolo can’t keep a clean sheet means that BTTS is a great pick as well.
