Sunday action in the opening round of the Norwegian Eliteserien is going to be wrapped up with a derby match between Sarpsborg 08 and Rosenborg. Home side wants to repeat their successful last season, while the visitors are looking forward to defending the title.
The hosts had a very good campaign in which they finished as the 3rd placed side. Along with Rosenborg, they were the team with the lowest number of defeats, however the high number of draws prevented them of being more competitive in the title race. Geir Bakke’s side was doing very well in the front, while the defence was at the very respectable level and the second best in the competition. Sarpsborg 08 were excellent performers in front of home fans and they have been defeated only once. We should count on them to provide another good campaign in which they could finish again in the top three.
Rosenborg are the defending champions and they put themselves in the commanding position from the very start of the last season. At the end, they finished seven points ahead of Molde although they didn’t play very well in the last five rounds. Lead by Nicklas Berdtner, who remained in the club, the visitors were the fiercest attacking side in the league, while conceding only 20 goals. Away side was the best one when playing as the visitors, and they have booked nine victories on away pitches. Once more, they are the main contenders for winning the title, and we’ll see if they are going to be as dominant as in the last campaign.

Home side have never booked a win against their opposition, in fact they managed to avoid the defeat only three times since 2011. Rosenborg were almost equally successful on away ground as when playing in front of their fans. Their clashes are efficient very often and in the last four occasions, both teams managed to find the net.

Rosenborg want to open the season with the win and although the hosts are playing excellent at home, they don’t have solution for beating their opposition. Defending champions should be able to get back home with a win.
Both sides are more than capable of scoring and it is highly expected that each team scores at least one goal.
