Sarajevo vs Celtic
Champions League Qualification
Date: Tuesday, 9 July 2019
Kick off at 18:45 UK / 19:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Asim Ferhatović Hase (Sarajevo).
With the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Cup safely under their belt already, Celtic will certainly be in high hopes this season of taking a shot at the bigger prize that is across Europe. The squad’s last trip on the road, in the league, finished in a 2-0 defeat to their rivals Rangers, albeit a win would hardly have mattered considering that they had a 13 point advantage at the helm.
They bounced back from that loss, however, and posted a 2-1 win against Hearts in the final of the Scottish Cup with Odsonne Eduardo grabbing a brace.
The hosts finished as the table toppers in their respective league as well, and are undefeated at home in their last six competitive games. Their last game on home soil against Zvijezda, finished 4-0 in their favor.
The team’s convincing performance, right from the kick-off, rewarded them with all four goals in the first half and a clean sheet to their name at the end of the ninety minutes.
The home side can certainly rule out the game on Tuesday to be a walk in the park and will have to be on their guard if they are to restrict the visitors from finding a crucial away goal.
The team that progresses, at the end of the two legs, will square up against the winners of the clash between Kalju and Shkendija.
Sarajevo vs Celtic Head to head (h2h)
The two teams have never locked horns with each other on any occasion.
Sarajevo vs Celtic Prediction
The first leg clash between the two sides is almost certain to see Celtic coming out on top with the win.
The visitors found the back of the net eight times in the last five trips on the road, while the hosts have scored fourteen goals of their own in their last five on home soil.
The away side suffered just five defeats in the league last season and will be coming into the clash on the back of the positive result that they recorded in the Scottish Cup finals.
Although the home team are on a slightly better run of form, the visitors are a lot tougher than the teams that they face every week.
So we can certainly rule out the odds of a high scoring tie between the teams on Tuesday and can expect Celtic to be the only ones to find the back of the net.
