Santa Fe vs Flamengo
South America – Copa Libertadores
Date: Thursday, 26 April 2018
Kick-Off at 01:45 UK
Venue: Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campin (Bogota).
Santa Fe are unbeaten after three opening games in Group, but they still sit outside the top two in the standings. The reason is the fact each of these three ties ended up in draws, leaving the Colombians two points shy of the group’s favourites Flamengo and River Plate.
However, this can’t be regarded as a poor return for Los Cardenales who played the mentioned two teams on the road so far. Can they catch a break and finally snatch a three-pointer on Wednesday evening when Flamengo come to visit Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campin?
The visitors are also undefeated, but they’ve managed to grab one three-pointer in the process. Mengao took a massive victory away at Emelec in the second round thanks to Vinicius Junior whose brace helped them turn things around in Ecuador.
The two sides played each other last week when Flamengo were massive favourites to back up the mentioned victory over Emelec.
Nonetheless, Wilson Morelo managed to cancel Henrique Dourado’s opener to save a point for Santa Fe in their first ever H1H meeting with Mengao.
Henrique Dourado could prove out to be a fantastic signing for Flamengo who entered the new Serie A season with sky-high expectations. Fluminense’s best player from the previous season looks to be in good touch as he bagged three goals in last two appearances for Mengao. Apart from breaking the deadlock in the mentioned 1-1 draw with Santa Fe, the Brazilian forward notched two more in the weekend’s home win over America Mineiro. He could well be in position to maintain his amazing spell of form here against Santa Fe.
The Colombians definitely have issues with the lack of meticulousness at the back of late. Each of last four games they played saw both teams on the scoreline. We do find the value in backing such trend to be continued here against Flamengo at the 2.00 odds. Also, the value is with the Brazilians who are 1.72 not to lose against an outfit which won just one of last seven games across competitions.
