San Marino vs Cyprus
Date: Monday, 9 September 2019
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Serravalle).
Cyprus need a win to stay alive in the qualification race after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Kazakhstan on Friday.
Belgium and Russia seem to be right on course to take the two qualification spots allotted to Group I, and in all probability, the remaining four will be acting as fodder. This is especially the case for these two, and even more so for their Monday’s hosts.
San Marino are considering this qualification campaign as more of an opportunity to put themselves on the map, and to gain some much-needed experience against some of the best in the business.
Their Nations League run was kind of a bust as the team, already included in the bottom-most League D, finished at the nadir of Group 2. Since relegation is not a possibility for the worst in this league, the squad avoided further embarrassment.
While both teams in this fixture had disappointing campaigns in the competition, the worst of the two was obviously Marino, with them going completely off the grid in terms of scoring. They lost every single one of their ties and failed to score in at least one of their games.
Their 0-4 defeat to Belgium on Friday can be considered a decent result, considering their conceded 9 against Russia in June.
This, however, cannot be said for their counterparts, Cyprus, they did have the honor of being counted in the comparatively better League C. But, the rankings of the third-placed squads tagged them as the worst, and as a result, was kicked off to the lower division.

San Marino vs Cyprus Prediction
San Marino is quite easily one of the worst teams in international football, that it’d be considered a moral loss for most teams if they fail to register anything less than a 3-0 scoreline against them. The squad lost every one of their matches in the Nations League and failed to score throughout the tournament.
They have begun this qualification run on the same note, and most importantly, the first of those fixtures were against this same opponent, and it had ended in a 5-0 win for Cyprus.
Importantly, the Cypriots hold a 100% winning record in h2h clashes and is yet to concede in such an encounter as well. Finally, for the visitors, this is one of a rare chance to play favorites and post some urgently needed points. Expect them to do so without fail this Monday.
