Sampdoria vs Udinese: Prediction
The Blucerchiati are currently occupying 18th spot on the Serie A ladder, but the appointment of Claudio Ranieri seemed exactly what the doctor ordered for an underachieving side. Having lost only once in the last five games, Ranieri’s men are looking forward toward maintaining positive momentum and finally escaping the relegation zone.
They’ll be without first choice right-back and a prospective striker, as Bereszynski and Bonazzoli joined Seculin in the emergency room. Everyone else is available.
Luca Gotti stabilized the Zebrette after drubbings they’ve suffered against Atalanta and Roma and is yet to log in a defeat. In their last game, they had SPAL on the ropes, dominating possession and missing chance after chance, yet narrowly escaped a defeat when Petagna missed a stoppage-time penalty.
With a tough schedule ahead of them, every point matter because with a string of bad results they can easily drop back down into familiar territory – the dreaded relegation battle.
Beccao and Okaka are suspended while De Maio is injured.
Sampdoria have been below average at Luigi Ferraris this season. Six points from six games played in front of their own crowd is way below their last season’s average – 1 point per game compared to 1.68 last year. Ranieri managed to get 3 points from 3 games but in his defense, he managed to withstand Roma and Atalanta. As for goals, they have an average of 0.50 goals scored per game – three times less than last year- whilst allowing 1.17.
Udinese on the road is a sour tale but one which had its first sweet chapter two days after they sacked Tudor and brought in Gotti. He managed to get them their first win from 5 games they’ve played away from Friuli. The Zebrette averaged 0.80 goals scored and 2.00 conceded. They kept a clean sheet only once, against Verona.
All things considered; ‘Il Doria’ should claim three points on Sunday. Udinese are unreliable on the road, defensively even worse than last year while Sampdoria’s form is on the rise.
Adding their superior squad into the mix and their previous encounters, I’m backing Sampdoria to claim three points. But, just to be safe, I’d recommend Draw-No-Bet.
If you’re feeling brave, back the home team to net two or more. They’ve done it enough times in recent years to warrant a recommendation.
