Sampdoria vs Sassuolo
Italian Serie A.
Date: Monday, 23 October 2018
Kick-Off: 19:30 UK,
Venue: Stadio Luigi Ferraris (Genoa).
Sampdoria will be looking to make it three straight wins and continue building on their solid home form as they take on Sassuolo in the final game of matchday nine on Monday evening.
The Blucheriati have had a strong start to the season and are sitting in the European places and will want to take advantage of the Neroverdi’s recent downward turn in form, which has seen them slide down the table into eighth spot.
Sampdoria started off well last term but ended up faltering midway and failed to seal a European football spot.
The Samps will hope to learn from that and again are going to rely on their home form to help bolster their standings in the table, and key to that will be picking up as many points as possible at home.
Of course, they will also need to do well on the road and avoid losses to minnows like Benevento and others like what happened last season, but for now they will be fully focused on getting the job done against a Sasusolo side who, despite losing their last two games, have been a much improved outfit this term.
Last season, Sassuolo’s issue was not just in defense, but also in attack. This term, while they are still struggling to keep things tight at the back.
The Neroverdi are looking much stronger up front and should pose a threat to their hosts, especially as Sampdoria have only kept one clean sheet in their last four home games (during an impressive 3-0 win over Napoli).
In addition, Sassuolo have netted in their last five visits to Sampdoria and have actually beaten the Genoa-based side in their last three meetings, but will they enjoy such good fortune this Monday?

Sampdoria vs Sassuolo: Prediction
After failing to win their last three games, Sampdoria rebounded to beat struggling SPAL and Atalanta to reclaim a spot inside the top five and will want to continue in the same vein of form against Sassuolo, who have lost their last two games and conceded six goals in the process.
Still, Sassuolo, despite losing 4-1 to AC Milan and also to Juventus, did manage to grab a goal in both instances and have a proven track record of scoring against their hosts.
That being said, Samp are in better form and their home record – which has seen them beat Napoli this season should not be discounted and backing them to get the win against Sassuolo seems like a sound choice.
