Sampdoria vs Sassuolo: Match Preview
A week after their best performance of the season against Brescia, the Blucerchiati came up with their worst as they got battered 5-1 by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. Fortunately for them, bottom sides are not doing that good either as only SPAL managed to record three points in the previous round.
With 19 points on the board, Sampdoria are 16th on the Serie A ladder, four points above the pit, and will be looking to make amends for last week’s debacle.
Claudio Ranieri’s side have logged three wins, three draws, and four defeats at the Luigi Ferraris, averaging 1.10 goals scored per bout and conceding slightly more – 1.20 – in return. Samp have earned seven points from last five home matches (2-1-2).
After three consecutive Serie A defeats to Napoli (1-2), Genoa (1-2) and Udinese (0-3), the Neroverdi overcame Torino 2-1 at the MAPEI Stadium thanks to Jeremie Boga and Domenico Berardi.
With the win-draw-lose record of 6-4-10, Sassuolo are sitting at 15th place, three points clear of Sampdoria and just two points behind 11th-placed Parthenopeans. Roberto De Zerbi’s side are in the midst of an injury crisis and several players with miss the trip to Genoa, but at least now we know that Domenico Berardi is eligible for selection.
The Reggio Emilia outfit have recorded two wins, three draws and five defeats away from home this season, netting 1.10 goals per match and shipping 1.60. Sassuolo have collected five points from last five away fixtures.

Sampdoria vs Sassuolo: Prediction
Sampdoria have been involved in two high-scoring matches on the trot and I’m fairly confident this game will be quite exciting, with goals on both ends. Sassuolo’s defence is weakened, but their attacking department, full of flashy players, is good to go.
As for my second bet, I will give the hosts an edge and pick them in DNB market with decent odds as I expect 2-1 or 1-1 scoreline at the Luigi Ferraris.
