Sampdoria vs Roma
Italy – Serie A
Date: Sunday, 20 October 2019
Kick-off at 14:00 UK / 15:00 CET
Venue: Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.
Sampdoria will be looking for a fresh start under new manager, Claudio Ranieri. Their problems won’t go away overnight, but they should be alright long-term. I will back them in Double Chance market against shorthanded Roma. BTTS – Yes is also an option.

Both teams have found the back of the net in three of the last five H2H matches at this venue.

Sampdoria vs Roma: Prediction
With just three points from seven games, Sampdoria are dead last in the Serie A standings. After their third defeat on the trot against Hellas Verona (0-2), La Samp patron Massimo Ferrero has decided to sack Eusebio Di Francesco and hire Claudio Ranieri.
Legendary Leicester boss will try to fix their defensive issues and get the best out of underperforming stars. Maroni, Seculin, Linetty and Thorsby are highly doubtful to play.
Roma are 5th in the league with three wins, three draws and one loss. They nearly won a game against Cagliari, but VAR interfered and disallowed Kalinic’s stoppage-time winner. In the ‘heat of the moment’, Roma manager, Paulo Fonseca, insulted a referee and received two-match touchline ban and his assistant Nuno Campos will take his place on the bench.
The Giallorossi will be severely shorthanded in Genoa – Dzeko, Pellegrini, Mkhitaryan, Perotti, Zappacosta, Under and Diawara are injured.
As expected, Samp numbers are shocking. They have an average of 0.67 goals scored per game at home, whilst conceding 2 per match. Their forwards, Quagliarella, Gabbiadini and Caprari have scored 2 goals combined this season.
Roma’s numbers on the road are not that impressive, but none of their games were dull, including the 1-0 win over Lecce. They’re bagging 1.33 goals per game and whilst allowing 0.67 per bout.
Sampdoria will be looking for a fresh start under new manager. Their problems won’t go away overnight, but they should be alright. I will back them in Double Chance market against essentially Roma’s Europa League squad on Sunday, but I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet in the process.
