Sampdoria vs Palermo
2016/17 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 2 October 2016
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris (Genoa).
After a bright start it appears to have gone all wrong for Sampdoria. The Blucheriati will be desperate to arrest a disturbing downward slide as they take on Palermo – a side in flummox themselves – this Sunday.
Sampdoria started off quite well, with two wins. Since then, however, they’ve failed to win, let alone draw a game. Four matches, four losses. Not exactly encouraging for a team hoping to eventually escape the drop, and especially considering they commenced proceedings on a high note. Palermo, by contrast, appear to be slowly improving. Although they did lose to Juventus in the last match, it was not a humiliating result by any means and in fact, the Rosanero did manage to frustrate the reigning Serie A champions for long spells during that game.
Both teams look destined to be among those battling the drop as this season continues, meaning that every single point will definitely make a massive difference between who stays afloat and who will be featuring in the second-tier next term.
Sampdoria comes into this match having ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 score-line against Cagliari. It was rather unfortunate as they looked set for a draw until they conceded a last-gasp goal to give the Rossoblu their second win of the season.

Sampdoria vs Palermo: Prediction
Despite eventually losing 1-0, Palermo put in a good shift against Juventus. The Rosanero are already in a battle for survival and would love nothing but to drag Sampdoria into that mix with a win here. However, Sampdoria will be desperate to avoid a fifth consecutive loss and will hunker down and defend like their lives depend on it. Don’t be surprised if this concludes in a draw – and a rather non-entertaining one at that.
