Sampdoria vs Napoli – LeagueLane® Analysis
Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 13 May 2018
Kick-Off: 19:45 UK,
Venue: Stadio Communale Luigi Ferraris (Genoa).
With the Scudetto race pretty much over following their 2-2 draw with Torino, Napoli will have to likely settle for second place. The Partenopei haven’t fully given up though, as Roma face Juventus, but as far as everyone’s concerned, it’s a done deal. So, at this point, will they even have the motivation to continue fighting anymore?
The fact that Napoli have now to face the Blucerchiati here will make things even tougher. Sampdoria have built their standing on their home form and have won 12 of their 18 clashes, and only Napoli and Juventus have done better in front of their home fans. The hosts will be desperate for a result after seeing their Europa League ambitions come to an end due to a bad result against Sassuolo and have lost just one of their last 10 home games – when they were crushed by Inter a while back.
The Partenopei seem to have also run out of steam at the wrong moment. Throwing all their efforts into only winning the Scudetto instead of trying to really compete in the Coppa Italia or the Champions League (and the Europa League) has backfired miserably and it seems like they’re going to have nothing to show for their efforts, and that has taken a toll on the players as well. They followed up their win at Juventus – which seemed to blow the title race back open – with a shock loss to Fiorentina and a draw at Torino, and it’s likely they could struggle yet again here.
Sampdoria vs Napoli: Head-to-head (H2h)

Sampdoria vs Napoli: Predictions
Napoli did manage to beat Juventus, but they are huffing and puffing at this moment. It’s been a monumental task for the Partenopei all season to try to keep pace and the efforts have finally caught up to them. They’ve won just one of their last five on the road recently and Sampdoria’s home record is quite formidable to say the least, so backing the hosts to secure at least a point seems like a safe outcome.
