UEFA Champions League 2017/18 – Second qualifying round
Date: Wednesday, 19th July 2017
Kick off at 19:30 UK/ 20:30 CET
Venue: Red Bull Arena.

Austrian champions have closed the tie in the first leg at Hibernians Stadium where RB Salzburg clinched a convincing 0-3 win to secure the third qualifying round of Champions League.

The rematch at Red Bull Arena will thus only be a formality for the hosts who are massive favourites to pick up another comprehensive win over an amateur side and set up a third-round meeting with Rijeka.

Salzburg

The team is led by the German manager Marco Rose who had six pre-season friendlies with the team prior to the first official match of the season.

Austrians have been super impressive in the thumping of Anderlecht 4-1 in the last test before the meeting with Hibernians.

The team slightly changed the squad, but the ambitions in the top flight of the Austrian football remain the same. Can they make a deeper run in European competitions? We are yet to see after third round matches with Rijeka as the Maltese squad is far from being a serious rival.

Hibernians

The visitors achieved a huge success by eliminating FCI Tallinn with wins in both legs without a single goal conceded.

The top option between the posts, Andrew Hogg, suffered a minor injury which moved him off the court for a while, but he still made the appearance in the first leg played seven days ago in Paola.

Salzburg vs Hibernians: Head to head

As we stated in the introduction, RB Salzburg won the lone previous head to head encounter with Hibernians.

The Bulls completely dominated the pitch from the very first whistle. Valon Berisha, Hee-Chan Hwang and Takumi Minamino were on target in a demolishing 0-3 win for the Austrians.

Salzburg vs Hibernians: Prediction

The only question ahead of the rematch will be how many goals will end up behind Hogg’s back.

Since the hosts will not be super motivated to push hard from the very first whistle and since Hibernians showed decent defensive displays in two legs with FCI Tallinn in the first qualifying round, we are going to back the visitors not to lose by four goals or more at the odds of 3/5.

Salzburg vs Hibernians: Bet Tips

The top bet is Hibernians +3.5 handicap at the odds of 3/5.

You can alternatively back Under 3.5 goals FT at the odds of 13/10.
