Roma vs Napoli
2017/18 Italian Serie A.
Date: Saturday, 14 October 2017
Kick-Off: 19:45 UK,
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
Napoli are flying high thanks to a perfect start to the season, and after Juventus slipped up to Atalanta, the Partenopei now have a two point lead over the reigning champions. They surely will be hoping to continue in the same vein of form as they take on Roma on Saturday evening.
Seven straight wins have some already wondering if this could be the season that sees Maurizio Sarri’s men finally clinch the Scudetto. It’s still early on, but Napoli are looking like definite contenders to end Juve’s stranglehold on the Serie A title.
So far, Napoli have already beaten Roma’s rivals Lazio, cruising to a comfortable 4-1 win earlier this season. Whilst they did labor a bit against SPAL, they nonetheless managed to grind out a 3-2 win over a surprisingly stubborn opponent and come into this game having earned a deserved 3-0 win over Cagaliari.
Meanwhile, Roma do come into this game having beaten AC Milan 2-0 on the road, which marked the third straight win for the Giallorossi in which they also earned a clean sheet. Nonetheless, there are still doubts about the team under Eusebio Di Francesco, and two of those wins were against the likes of Hellas Verona and Benevento, teams which a side of Roma’s caliber is expected to pick up a full six points out of six against.
Napoli are simply flying at the moment and despite Roma’s solid win over Milan, the Rossoneri are not at the same level of the Partenopei, who will be looking for another win to the Eternal City this weekend.

Roma vs Napoli: Prediction
Dries Mertens has continued in the same rich vein of form that saw him narrowly miss out on the Capocannoniere, whilst Edin Dzeko, who clinched the coveted prize also continues to impress. Both have seven goals and both will be hoping to add more to their tallies as both Ciro Immobile and Paulo Dybala will go head to head in the other huge fixture featuring Lazio and Juventus this weekend.
However, Napoli are firmly in the ascendancy and unless if the international break has caused an interruption in their impressive form, the Partenopei should be able to pick up a win here.
