Roma vs Lazio
Italian Serie A.
Date: Saturday 29 September 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
The first Derby della Capitale of the season will be underway this Saturday and it could not come at a better time for fans of both Roma and Lazio. Both sides come into this game having won their respective midweek fixtures against Frosinone and Udinese and will be eager to get all three points on the board in order to get the better of the other in one of the most bitter rivalries in world football.
Lazio have now seemingly turned a corner after a difficult start to the season. In all fairness, Simone Inzaghi’s men did have to face Napoli and Juventus for their first two games, which is never an easy proposition, and since then, they have won their last four Serie A matches which has propelled them up to third in the table. There were some bumps along the way, but slowly but surely, the Aquile are starting to look once again like the side who were a solid outfit last term and only narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot after losing to Inter on the final matchday of the season.
Roma, by contrast, have struggled to replicate the same heights that saw them make it to the final four in the Champions League and seal third place in Serie A. Eusebio Di Francesco’s men did beat Frosinone midweek, but that has helped only slightly alleviate the pressure on him somewhat. That victory was a must-win for Roma after shocking losing 2-0 to a Bologna side who before then had not scored a goal and although they did cruise to a 4-0 win over the Canarini, the general feeling is that the Lupi still have not fully found themselves just yet.

Roma vs Lazio: Prediction
Lazio, as things stand are definitely a side who are finding their way. Roma, by contrast, have not sorted themselves out just yet and could find this to be a very tough game.
Yes, they beat Frosinone, but that is not really something to be too boastful about – after all, Sampdoria and Atalanta also beat them and neither of those two sides are in the top five in the table.
Based on form alone, the first Derby della Capitale of the season seems pipped to go in Lazio’s favor, although given that Lazio have struggled to keep a clean sheet, the Giallorossi should be able to grab a goal.
