AS Roma vs Juventus
Italian Serie A
Date: Sunday, 27 September 2020
Kick-Off at 19.45 UK
Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Rome.
Derby of the week and probably match of the month in Italy is scheduled for Sunday night in the capital where AS Roma welcomes the reigning Serie A champions Juventus.
Both sides have gone through some sort of disappointment in the last couple of weeks. Juve’s fans were furious after the early elimination from UEFA Champions League, which eventually resulted in some big changes and leave of Maurizio Sarri.
Roma had a rough game last week in Verona which ended without goals. However, due to a mistake made by club’s administration, three points are going to Hellas, which is surely far from ideal way to start the new campaign.
All in all, we should witness a spectacular match. The Old Lady is the favourite once again at 2.05 odds, while chances for Roma to achieve the same are at 3.40
Roma vs Juventus Head-to-head
AS Roma have caused troubles for Juve quite a lot in the last couple of years. They have conquered Torino in August, winning the match 3-1 thanks to the goals of Nikola Kalinic and Diego Perotti.
There were no matches without a winner in the last five meetings.
There were 29 head to head’s at Olimpico so far and Roma are just one victory behind, 9 to 10. The average number of goals scored in those duels is 2.34 per match.
Also, five out of the last eight encounters ended with two goals or less.
Roma vs Juventus Prediction
These two teams were involved in transfer drama in the last couple of days. It looked like Roma’s most efficient striker Edin Dzeko is only a signature away from becoming new player of Juventus. But for some reason, the Old Lady changed their mind and signed Alvaro Morata. This also means that potential arrival of Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli to Roma is now gone as well.
Home fans were not happy to see Aleksandar Kolarov let go to Inter Milan one month ago, as well as Cengiz Under moving to Leicester for a loan deal. It seems like this didn’t affect Roma’s results though – they had solid results during the pre-season.
Andrea Pirlo had his debut as Juventus’ coach in comfortable 3-0 win against Sampdoria last week. Recent acquisition from Parma, Dejan Kulusevski broke the deadlock, followed by Ronaldo’s and Bonucci’s goals later on.
We are expecting Juve to struggle in the capital as they did in previous seasons. There is solid value in backing goals, and double chance on the home team.
