Roma vs Juventus
2016/17 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 14 May 2017
Kick-Off: 19:45 UK,
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
The biggest game of matchday 36 – and certainly the season – will take place at the Stadio Olimpico with Roma welcoming Juventus on Sunday evening.
This game will decide who is crowned champions of Italy. The Bianconeri pretty much have one hand on the trophy, but the Giallorossi are determined to drag on the title race for as long as possible. However, they may have to make do without Capocannoniere candidate Edin Dzeko, who is reportedly struggling with a calf problem.
Juventus come into this game having secured their spot in the Champions League finals. A 2-1 win over Monaco was enough to earn Massimiliano Allegri’s men a place in the finals for the second time in just three seasons, and they will again have to feature against Spanish opposition in order to get their hands on the trophy.
The Bianconeri have a very busy week ahead. Following this game, the Coppa Italia final is next, and a tantalizing tie against Lazio awaits. With that in mind, it will be very interesting to see how Allegri manages his squad, but he likely will play his strongest starting XI in order to seal part one of the Treble Juventus are chasing this season.
Roma also come into this game in good form. The Giallorossi crushed AC Milan 4-1 to solidify their grip on second place and to keep Napoli at bay for yet another round. Luciano Spalletti’s future is in doubt with the club after some recent comments he made regarding not playing Francesco Totti, who will be retiring at the end of the season. The Lupi will have to put aside these off-the pitch issues if they want to get something out of this game.

Roma vs Juventus: Prediction
Edin Dzeko’s potential absence is a big blow for the hosts. Kevin Strootman is also likely out. Roma will be desperate to delay Juve’s title celebrations for as long as possible, but the Bianconeri are in excellent form. They may have had their problems on the road but if anyone can grind out a good result, it’s La Vecchia Signora. The Giallorossi have had their moments, but have struggled when the going gets tough – just look at their defeats to Lazio in the Derby della Capitale and Napoli.
