Roma vs Cagliari: Prediction
AS Roma get back to league action after 1-1 draw in the Europa League vs fellow Wolves from Austria. The Giallorossi quickly bounced back from a home loss to Atalanta (0-2) and beaten tricky Lecce (1-0) on the road. Edin Dzeko was hailed as hero once again with a winning goal in the second half.
WIth three wins, two draws and a loss, Roma are now fifth in the Serie A standings. Team from the Capital will be shorthanded against Cagliari on Sunday. Mkhitaryan and Pellegrini have joined Perotti and Under on the treatment table.
Cagliari, unbeaten in last four Serie A games, are sitting at 7th position, levelled with Lazio on poins. The Sardinians have failed to bag fourth win on the trot against newly promoted Hellas Verona (1-1) in the previous round.
They’ve improved so much since the woeful start to the season, and they will try to stun the hosts on Sunday. Radja came in against Hellas and he’s expected to start this one, but Cragno, Farago, Pavoletti, Lykogiannis and Klavan are out.
Roma are scoring and conceding goals at same rate – 2.33 per game at Olimpico. We have seen fourteen goals at this venue this season, eighteen if we include their EL win against Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir. With Pellegrini and Mkhi out, Florenzi should play in more advanced role and Zaniolo will operate behind Dzeko, who bagged 4 league goals so far.
Caglari’s miserable record away from home almost got them relegated last season. This time around, they’re much better and quite lethal with two wins out of two and an average of 2 goals scored per game. They have four players with two goals apiece.
Roma’s home record and Cagliari numbers suggest we’ll see an open game with goals on both ends. I’ll back both sides to score and look for at least three goals.
