Roma vs AC Milan Prediction & Match Preview

Roma vs AC Milan
Italian Serie A
Date: Sunday, 3 February 2019
Kick-Off at 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Rome).

Eusebio Di Francesco will likely have his last chance to save the job on Sunday evening when Roma host Milan in a super-important six-pointer which could prove crucial for both sides in the battle for the top-four finish.

Giallorossi will come into the match in the lowest of spirits following a devastating 7-1 defeat to Fiorentina in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia action.

It was a horrendous evening for the Romans who also saw their star Edin Dzeko sent off for what appeared to be spitting at the referee. The cup ban should not normally affect Serie A, but Dzeko’s destiny in terms of his appearance against Milan at Olimpico, is still in the hands of officials.

Regardless of whether Dzeko will be on the pitch or not, Di Francesco does not quite have plenty of reasons to stay positive head of this Milan’s tie. His defensive line was non-existent in last three matches which saw the Giallorossi ship as many as 12 goals (four per game).

The Romans had a three-goal cushion last weekend against Atalanta, but were lucky to have saved a point at the end (finished in a 3-3 draw).

Roma vs Milan: Head-to-head

Teams have 18 wins each in last 53 head to head encounters.

Roma were on a four-win streak in matches against Rossoneri, but Milan claimed back-to-back victories in last two clashes between the two sides.

Three or more goals were seen just twice in past five H2H matches.

Roma vs Milan: Prediction

The lack of meticulousness in Roma’s back line will be the music to the ears of Milan’s newest addition, Krzysztof Piatek. The Polish striker guided Rossoneri to a 2-0 victory over Napoli in Tuesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final (a 2-0 win for Milan). He should have plenty of room to back up such display and find the back of the net for the first time in Milan’s shirt in Serie A here against the Romans.

Piatek to score anytime is our main betting suggestion at 2.60. Unlike Roma, Milan were very tough to break down lately. They shipped just one goal in past five games even though the opposition included the likes of Sampdoria, Juventus and Napoli twice in the process. We thus have to recognize a massive value in backing the away win at the odds of 3.30.

Roma vs Milan: Bet Tips

  • Milan to win @ 3.30 (23/10)
  • Krzysztof Piatek to score anytime @ 2.60 (8/5).
