Italian club AS Roma are targeting a move for Chelsea center back Gary Cahill before the transfer shut down in January.
Cahill is reportedly unsettled at Chelsea as the interim boss Guus Hiddink preferring John Terry and Kurt Zouma at centre-back.
The experienced defender has only renewed his contract two months ago but found himself in and out of the squad due to the emergence of Kurt Zouma.
Cahill has only five starts to his name in the last two months and his lack of appearances could put his place in England squad for Euro 2016 at risk.
Chelsea on the other side have only three center backs in their ranks in the form of Terry, Cahill and Zouma and an injury to one of them could weaken the side further.
So it is unlikely that the Blues will sell him in the current window and Roma might have to wait until next summer.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also rumored to be interested in New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga and a bid in the region of £3.5m is expected to be made before the weekend.
The 20-year-old is Matt Miazga is a USA international but also holds a Polish passport, which means he may not need a work permit if decided to move to England.
