Rio Ave are going to host Portimonense in the fourth round of Portuguese Primeira Liga on Sunday afternoon.
Home side opened their campaign by winning four points so far and they want to challenge one of the spots in the European cups for the next season.
After suffering a defeat in the opening round, they have tied two matches without losing. Last time, Rio Ave finished at high 5th spot and secured the place in the Europa League. However, they’ve been eliminated in their first match by Polish side Jagiellonia.
Damien Furtado and the lads have been pretty productive, while they’ll need to tighten up the defence. The hosts have been very confident when playing at home ground last season and they suffered just three defeats in front of their fans.
Portimonense managed to secure their place in the top flight without having problems as they finished in the middle of the table.
Antonio Folha’s side produced a fair number of goals, while their defending was not too good. However, they have bad start of the season as the visitors managed to snatch just a point from the first three matches.
After two defeats in the opening round, Portimonense managed to remain undefeated against Santa Clara at home ground. Although they’ve snatches just two away victories last season, the visitors managed to book additional six draws.
