Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo
Spanish La Liga
Date: Saturday, 16 March 2019
Kick-Off at 15:15 UK / 16:15 CET
Venue: Estadio Santiago Bernabeu (Madrid).
Real Madrid basically have nothing but the pride to play for in the remaining part of the season. They had a nightmare week which saw them suffer eliminations to Barcelona and Ajax in both Copa del Rey and Champions League in spite of positive results from first leg affairs. They also fell 0-1 to fierce rivals and table-toppers Barcelona in the league tie at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the meantime.
Such slump was sign for Florentino Perez to begin the new era. The first move was the reappointment of Zinedine Zidane as the head coach. Madrid have huge plans for the summer transfer window. Nonetheless, it will still be interesting to see how the team will perform in Zidane’s new debut on the bench on Saturday afternoon against relegation threatened Celta Vigo.
Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo: Head-to-head
Real Madrid won three and drew one of past four meetings with the Sky-Blues.
Los Blancos bagged an impressive ten-goal tally in last two wins over Celta (6-0 and 2-4).
Three or more goals were seen in all of last eleven head to head outings between these two likes.
There were four or more goals scored in nine of past ten H2H affairs.
Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo: Prediction
Real’s top-four finish should not come in question as the team sit ten points clear off 5th-placed Deportivo Alaves. Players will, however, be highly motivated to try and earn their place in the starting line-up for the new season.
Celta are in a much bigger need for points here. They’ve been on a dreadful streak of nine defeats, one draw and one win in past eleven league matches. Such horrendous spell of form pushed them down to the danger area. The Sky Blues also made a managerial change this month, but new coach Fran Escriba failed to bring an immediate impact as the team fell 0-1 at home to Real Betis last weekend in his debut on the bench.
Celta failed to find the back of the net in last three league outings. Even though Real Madrid went through thick and thin of late, we do find them as clear favourites to pick up a victory in Zidane’s inaugural game in charge this season.
