Real Madrid vs Barcelona Match Preview
Real Madrid suffered a setback in their last clash on the road in the LaLiga after Levante pulled off a surprise 1-0 win over them. Despite recording twice as many shots at goal as their foes in that latter clash, the hosts were far from clinical in their efforts and subsequently missed out on all three points at the last blast of the whistle.
The home team failed to bounce back to winning ways in their most recent Champions League fixture with Manchester City as well and were handed a 2-1 defeat at the last blast of the whistle.
Miserably, Los Blancos are now playing second fiddle to Barcelona, albeit by no more than a slender two-point deficit.
On the other hand, Barcelona thrashed Eibar in their respective Laliga matchup. The visitors slotted five unanswered goals past their counterparts by the end of the ninety minutes, making it four wins out of four in the top flight.
However, the guests were held to a 1-1 draw by Napoli in their most recent outing across Europe. With another trip on the road beckoning, that too to the intimidating Santiago Bernabeu, the Catalans will have to brace themselves for nothing short of a tough set of ninety minutes.
Real Madrid vs Barcelona Prediction
Real Madrid have avoided defeat at home so far in the LaLiga. In fact, they are one among the only three teams that are yet to taste defeat on home soil and have picked up the win in eight of their past twelve games here too.
In sharp contrast, Barcelona have looked vulnerable on the road. Disappointingly, all four defeats that they have succumbed to this season have come from their outings.
It is also worth mentioning that the Catalans have secured the bragging rights just once away from home, since the start of the new year. Taking into account that they failed to come out on top in the reverse fixture at Camp Nou as well, a win is certainly not on the cards for Barcelona this week.
However, Los Blancos have shared the spoils four times on home soil. Considering that the hosts have not emerged victoriously in any of their previous three meetings with Barca here either, a double chance is sizing up to be the safest punt.
Furthermore, Barcelona know their way around in the final third, irrespective of the venue. Admirably, they have found the back of the net eighteen times on the road, which is just three fewer than the highest tally in the cluster.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have racked up twenty-five goals here, from their last twelve clashes. Considering that seven of their previous nine h2h meetings at the Bernabeu have also been high scoring affairs, expect goals to be in abundance come Sunday too.
