RB Leipzig vs Freiburg Prediction, Betting Tips and Match Preview with h2h stats, form guide, team news and starting line-ups for German Bundesliga clash on 16th May 2020, Saturday, scheduled to kick off at 14:30 UK/ 15:30 CET at the Red Bull Arena.
The Red Bulls of Leipzig will be looking to get back on the winning track when they welcome messy but equally unpredictable Freiburg in Saturday’s Bundesliga clash.
After a fantastic performance, the Red Bulls are through to the Champions League quarter finals as they have deservedly beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0, led by heroic showings by Emil Forsberg and Marcel Sabitzer, who got on the scoresheet twice.
Back on the domestic soil, things are not as great for Julian Nagelsmann and his men. They were overtaken by Borussia Dortmund on matchday-25 and currently occupy 3rd place in the Bundesliga table, with a 5-point drift off the league leaders.
Despite winning just once in their latest three outings in front of their own fans, Leipzig is ranked among the greatest home sides in the league, with Red Bull Arena being one of the most inhospitable turfs in Germany.
RBL haven’t lost at the Arena since September and before already mentioned draws (versus Gladbach and Leverkusen), they were on a five-game winning run, annihilating everyone who’s dared to come their way.
After losing back-to-back games, Freiburg eventually overcame Union Berlin and earned themselves three points to maintain their foothold in the race for continental football.
The Red & Blacks are chilling just above the middle of the table, currently at 8th, with a single point staying between them and Europa League. They are trying so hard to avoid considering their recent form and four losses they have suffered in last six games before somewhat miraculously beating surprise hit of the season from Berlin.
On the road, Christian Streich’s men are as average as you can get. They did manage to create all sorts of troubles for Dortmund in their last completed away match, eventually gunned down by a solitary goal from Jadon Sancho.
Anyhow, Freiburg’s overall away form look terrible with 1 win coming since September last year, drew 4 and lost 5 during that 9-match span.

Team News & Expected Starting Eleven
Dayot Upamecano will miss this one through a suspension but apparently Ethan Ampadu and Ibrahima Konate, according to sources, are back in the Leipzig’s training camp successfully recovered from injuries.
Leipzig (3-5-2): Gulacsi – Mukiele, Klostermann, Halstenberg – Adams, Sabitzer, Laimer, Angelino – Nkunku – Schick, Timo Werner.
Christian Gunter, Manuel Gulde, Janik Haberer, Chang-Hoon Kwon, Amir Abrashi and Mike Frantz all recovered from their respective injuries during the shutdown and Christian Streich have an almost full and fit squad to choose from. Lukas Kübler is the only confirmed name still in the nursing room.
Freiburg (3-4-3): Schwolow – Gulde, Koch, Heintz – Schmid, Haberer, Hofler, Günter – Waldschmidt, Petersen, Grifo.
RB Leipzig vs Freiburg: Prediction
I wouldn’t like to be in Christian Streich’s place this Saturday with Freiburg traveling to one of the toughest arenas in the country. He has a paper-thin squad to play against a team who is hell bent to make one last push for the title on the wings of Champions League heroics.
The Red Bulls are usually in the mood following European matches. They should be back to their factory settings, destroying visiting sides without mercy and hopefully will show us that their last outing at this stadium, uninspiring and drab 1-1 draw versus Leverkusen was just a bad day at the office.
On top of that, Julian Nagelsmann have good reasons to ask him mean to put 110% on the field this Saturday as the Red & Blacks did beat them 2-1 at the Schwarzwald-Stadion early this season. So bank on a one-sided match and boring victory by home side, a certainty for this one.
