Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez says his side can maintain their Premier League status if they show high intensity in their remaining matches.
The magpies found themselves in 18th position with 28 points and could secure top flight finish if grab a win against Man City on Tuesday.
Rafa Benitez is counting on his boys resilient character they showed in the 3-0 win over Swansea City on Saturday and expects them to go hard against Man City.
“We have to be ready for a difficult game. We all have to stick together, work hard and try to get three points in this game.
“If we believe like we did against Swansea then we can beat anyone. We have nothing to lose at the moment and we have confidence.
“We know that we can do it, we know that we can fight and play with this intensity, sometimes you play better, sometimes you play worse, but you have to keep this team spirit and this fight.”
Newcastle are chasing for their first Premier League win over Man City since 2005 but the Citizens beat Chelsea 3-0 with superb hat-trick from Kun Aguero on Saturday.
And when Rafa Benitez was asked about keeping close tabs on Aguero he said :
“They have so many good players that you can’t be worried just about Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne or another offensive player. Because they have very good midfielders and they have a very strong defence.”
