Qatar vs India
World Cup Qualification Asia
Date: Tuesday, 10 September 2019
Kick-off at 17:30 UK/ 18:30 CET
Venue: Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium (Doha).
India faced heartbreak in their opener in the World Cup Qualification Second Stage. Aided by a Sunil Chhetri goal, who incidentally has surpassed even the great Leo Messi in terms of international goals, the Blue Tigers were leading with just eight minutes for the full-time whistle to be blown.
But denying a chance for over a billion fans to rejoice, the visitors found the back of the net twice to take the three points on offer.
With just two qualification spots available for the five-member group, things are getting harder for Igor Stimac’s men.
To complicate things further, they are next on the road against probably the best Asian side at the moment.
Qatar was simply astounding in their title-winning run in the 2019 Asian Cup, which saw them concede a single goal in total throughout the whole tournament. And the lone goal had incidentally come in the 69th minute of the final against Japan.
The team also gained valuable experience by getting invited to take part in the Copa America. There they had the chance to lock horns against the likes of Argentina, Colombia, etc.
Qatar vs India Head-to-head (h2h)
- India had won the last encounter between these two, but do note that the tie took place in 2011.
- Since 1996, India failed to keep a clean sheet against this opponent.
- Qatar scored a total of 12 goals in total from the previous three fixtures combined.
- Indians had failed to score in two of the former three clashes.
Qatar vs India Prediction
After their seven-match winning streak, six of which were wins to nil, Qatar had delivered a glorious continental success in the Asian Cup.
Following this, they took part in the Copa America, and though had to bow out in the first round, the team tried their luck against some of the best players and teams in the world. As a friendly international, they also had lined up against Brazil.
Rightfully, they are termed as one of the best teams in Asia, and India, who are still making baby-steps, just maybe in the right direction, is not a contender who could stand on equal footing against this opponent.
Moreover, consider the recent form of Sunil Chhetri and his boys. They were able to salvage just two wins from their previous thirteen attempts and is on the road against this monster of a rival.
In addition, the Qataris hold a massive upper hand in h2h clashes, and disregarding a lone draw in 2011, they could even have boasted of an unbeaten record.
By the looks of things, we’re in line for another dominating performance by the Asian Champions.
