PSG vs Montpellier
France Ligue 1
Date: Saturday, 22nd April 2017
Kick off at 16:00 UK / 17:00 CET
Venue: Parc des Princes, Paris.
PSG’s win in mid-week over Metz meant that the current champions moved on the same points (77) as leaders Monaco. However, Monaco has a game in hand. It was a hard-fought match for PSG who looked to have thrown a two-goal lead away. But Blaise Matuidi, who has been in brilliant form the club scored in the final minute to give them a 3-2 victory. Now they will gladly return to Paris to take on Montpellier.
PSG are in excellent form where at home they remain unbeaten and have won 13 points from their last five home matches. But what has also been testament to their home record has been their lack of goals conceded, just 6 all season which is by far the best record in the league.
Montpellier’s two recent wins over Caen and Lorient has eased fears that the club were about to get caught up in a dreaded relegation battle. They are now 8 points clear of danger and will be safe for this season.
Whilst the club have won 2 of their last 4 away matches they still have the 3rd worst record on the road and they will start as obvious underdogs taking on PSG.
PSG vs Montpellier: Head to Head Stats
Surprisingly Montpellier beat PSG easily in the reverse fixture earlier in the season with a 3-0 win. Also, Montpellier have drawn twice from their last two visits to Paris, both games ended 0-0. PSG has only 1 win which was 4-0 at home in the last four games.
PSG vs Montpellier: Prediction
PSG are as much as 1/6 to win this game, a price considering how good Montpellier have been over PSG in recent years that is almost an insult to backers. Most markets offer poor returns in this game. So, we will take risk assessments and hope PSG do play at their best which they have been doing. First tip is for big hitters, second tip is for backers with a smaller budget.
