This will be the fourth successive quarter final appearance for PSG, but perished in the same stage of the competitions in the last three seasons. They lost to Barcelona in 2013 and 2014 and to Chelsea in 2014.

Manchester City are making their first ever quarter final appearance in their history and the best they ever achieved so far was a round of sixteen appearance in the previous two season. On both occasions they were eliminated by a mighty Barcelona.

Form Comparison

PSG eliminated defending Premier League champions Chelsea in the knockout round of 16 by winning both legs by the same 2-1 score-line. PSG have won their last four matches in this season’s Champions League and scored at least 2 goals in each of them. Their overall record in Champions League this season reads 6 wins, 1 draw and defeat, with the 2 matches they failed to win coming against Real Madrid.

The French League is done and dusted for PSG as they were crowned Champions of the 2015/16 season after the 9–0 thrashing of Troyes on 13th March 2016. Their form in the league is of little importance as Blanc tinkers with his squad on most occasions.

Manchester City saw off a stubborn Dynamo Kiev in the round of 16, by winning the away leg 3-1 and drawing the home fixture 0-0. They have won 5, drawn 1 and lost 2 of their Champions League fixtures this season, with the 2 defeats coming against Juventus in the group stage.

The Citizen’s domestic form is highly unpredictable and could be considered particularly poor away from home. However they have done well in Champions League after winning 3 out of their 4 matches this season. They are coming on the back of a 4-0 away win away at Bournemouth in the Premier League in the weekend, but this could give them a morale boost after losing in 4 of their last 6 league matches.

PSG: Team News

Wing back Serge Aurier is indefinitely suspended by the PSG board, while Marco Veratti and Javier Pastore are recovering from their respective injuries.

Blaise Matuidi is a doubt and Laurent Blanc will be hoping that he pass the fitness test in time as the French manager look to field the same stating eleven he used in the win against Chelsea.

PSG: Expected Starting Line-up (4-3-3)

Trapp – Maxwell, David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos – Matuidi, Motta, Rabiot – Di Maria, Cavani, Ibrahimovic.

Manchester City: Team News

Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling are all out with respective injuries.

Kevin De Bruyne have recovered from injury and started in the 4-0 win at Bournemouth in the weekend, while while Samir Nasri has also played some minutes in the same match.

Fabian Delph has also returned to full training, but midfielder Yaya Toure remains a doubt.

Manuel Pellegrini is expected to field an almost the same line-up which helped them earn a big win in the weekend.

Manchester City: Expected Starting Line-up (4-2-3-1)

Caballero – Zabaleta, Otamendi, Mangala, Clichy – Toure, Fernandinho – David Silva, De Bruyne, Navas – Aguero.

PSG vs Manchester City: Head-to-Head Stats

The teams have met only once in European competitions before during the group stages of the 2008/09 UEFA Cup, which ended 0-0 at Manchester.

PSG vs Manchester City: Prediction

PSG are fast proving that they are a force to reckon in Europe, which was particularly highlighted in the both legs of the group stage fixture against Real Madrid. Manchester City on the other hand, remains an unpredictable team despite their big win in the weekend.

On paper, this is a match between two teams which possess great strengths in the attack and each team has enough match winners. So I expect to see goals on both ends and an easy bid for over 2.5 goals.

PSG remain favourites for me to win this tie, but won’t be an easy one by any means. Manuel Pellegrini is a specialist in these situations and with the likes of Aguero and David Silva at his disposal, there are slight chances of an upset.

My score prediction for Wednesday evening is a 2-1 win in favour of the Parisian club.

Recommended Bet: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.81
