Preston North End vs Wigan Athletic
English League Championship
Date: Saturday, 6th October 2018
Kick-off at 15:00 UK/ 16:00 CET
Venue: Deepdale (Preston)
Rock bottom Preston North End faces Wigan Athletic in an attempt to reach out of the last place. These sides have rather different fortunes this season and it will be interesting which one of them will come on top.
Preston are looking in trouble currently. They were one of the strongest sides last season but this year they can’t find their rhythm. They haven’t won a league game since the opening fixture against QPR. North End just looks unable to defend properly right now which is a bit of a surprise considering their last year performances.
Midweek Preston played huge role in the sacking of Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce. The team came from 2 goals behind to eventually win a point after an extremely entertaining 3-3 game. The opposition manager was removed from his position following this result.
Wigan are producing mixed results this season since their promotion. Still they are more than enough for their survival and the team should continue to do like that. With a bit of consistency and some luck they can even challenge for top 6.
Latics are a compact side which doesn’t concede much. They can be dangerous on the counter and some teams already found that the hard way. Last round they finished in a goalless draw against Swansea at home keeping it tight at the back. Swansea dominated possession and created some chances but couldn’t break the defensive line.

Preston vs Wigan: Predictions
Recent stats both between the sides and Preston’s last games show a lot of goals. If an early goal gets in we may see a goal galore. The problem is Wigan likes to defend and close the games. The visitors will probably be happy with a point and Preston will have hard time breaking through the defensive line. North End looked lively midweek and will be looking to get some points and leave the bottom.
