Preston vs West Brom
Date: Saturday, 29 September 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: Deepdale Stadium (Preston).
West Brom will be hoping to continue the promotional push on Saturday when they travel to Deepdale to take on the rock-bottomed Preston North End in the 10th round of the competition. The Baggies have been flying high of late, winning three and drawing one of last four matches in the division.
Such a splendid run climbed them up to the third place in the league ladder. They sit just one point behind joint leaders Leeds United and Middlesbrough coming into the Preston tie.
The Lilywhites are going through very difficult period at this stage of the season. They are just not pulling up any trees at the start of the campaign. Alex Neil’s men took only two points from last eight matches in the league.
Preston vs West Brom: Head-to-head
- It’s been eight years since these two likes last locked horns.
- They were battling it out in Championship as well aback then.
- As many as 14 of last 16 head to head games saw home teams snatching the spoils.
- West Brom were more successful overall, with 26 victories to Lilywhites’ 18.
Preston vs West Brom: Prediction
Preston were by no means short of the goalmouth action this term. They bagged two or more goals in four of last five games across competitions, but won none of them in the process. This best describes how poor the back line has been so far in the season.
Neil’s men boast league’s by far the weakest defensive record with 18 goals conceded in nine games so far. It’s certainly not the kind of form you want to have ahead of the clash with one of the deadliest attacking lines in the competition.
Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle should thus have plenty of room to create in the final third and we just can’t imagine the scenario in which the hosts would avoid conceding two or more goals on the occasion.
