Preston North End vs Bristol City: Preview and Predictions

Preston North End vs Bristol City
England – Championship
Date: Tuesday, 6 March 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK
Venue: Deepdale Stadium (Preston).

Both Preston North End and Bristol City got their campaigns back on track on Saturday beating the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday in some style to keep ground on their rivals in the promotional battle. The Robins have thus kept the sixth place with the impressive 4-0 victory at the weekend, but a defeat here could see them drop out of the positions leading into the playoffs as the Lilywhites are only three points behind in ninth ahead of the mid-week’s derby.

Alex Neil’s men have shockingly dropped the ball falling 0-1 to Ipswich Town in the previous match at Deepdale, but the Scottish manager has found the way to raise the spirits and lead his team towards a rebound victory away at Macron Stadium on Saturday. Tom Barkhuizen became the team’s joint top scorer bagging the second-half equalizer against the Wanderers, while the victory was secured thanks to substitute Sean Maguire who bagged two off the bench.

The Irish forward could thus get the chance to make the starting lineup in a super important clash with the Robins. Given that Bristol City have been struggling badly for results on the road lately (three losses and two draws in last five away games in the league), Maguire and Barkhuizen could well be in position to shine once again and lead their side towards a massive victory here.

Preston North End vs Bristol City: Head-to-head

Preston have dominated this match-up over the history winning 17 and losing 8 of 33 meetings with Bristol City.

The Robins have only managed to come on top twice in 16 visits to Deepdale Stadium.

Five of last six H2H ties saw both teams on the scoreline.

Preston have won all of last four ties against Bristol City.

Preston North End vs Bristol City: Prediction

Both sides have been pretty efficient up front at the weekend and we expect them to maintain such form and score at least once to continue the high-scoring trend in H2H affairs.

Since Bristol City have struggled for consistency on the road lately, backing the home win & BTTS looks to be a decent option as well at the odds of 5.00.
