Portugal vs Switzerland
UEFA Nations League
Date: Wednesday, 5 June 2019
Kick-Off 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Estadio Do Dragao (Porto).

Portugal and Switzerland are set to lock horns in the first UEFA Nations League semi-final on Wednesday evening at Estadio Do Dragao.

A Selecao das Quinas will have the home-court advantage in the final stage of the inaugural Nations League campaign.

Can the crowd guide the hosts to success and help them jump above the Swiss side in the semi-final?

The hosts will be encouraged with the return of their star man Cristiano Ronaldo to the squad. The former Real Madrid forward needed some time to adjust to life in Turin with his new team Juventus, which parted him away from national team duties in the group stage of the Nations League.

Nevertheless, his absence did not prevent Fernando Santos’ men from winning the top spot in group with Italy and Poland (two wins and two draws in four games with a goal difference of 5-3 in the process).

A Selecao, however, struggle at the start of the EURO 2020 qualification campaign as they drew both of their opening two fixtures against Ukraine and Serbia back in March.

Portugal vs Switzerland: Head-to-head

Teams have four wins, draws and defeats apiece coming into 13th head to head encounter.

They exchanged 2-0 home wins in the previous World Cup Qualification campaign.

None of past four head to head games saw goals scored at both ends.

Portugal vs Switzerland: Prediction

Nati stunned Belgium with a demolishing 5-2 victory in the last round of the group phase. Haris Seferovic stole the show with five goals in four appearances in the group as Switzerland an impressive 14-goal a record of three wins and one loss along the way.

They began the EURO Qualifications in the same attacking-minded fashion netting five goals past Georgia and Denmark in two opening games.

However, the team led by Vladimir Petkovic revealed defensive liabilities of late. They dropped a three-goal cushion in the previous EURO qualifier against Denmark (a 3-3 draw). Nati kept just one clean sheet in past seven matches in all competitions and we can hardly see them keeping things quiet at the back here against Portugal.

The home court advantage will play a huge role for A Selecao das Quinas. We expect Cristiano Ronaldo & company to exploit the holes in Swiss’ defensive line and we find the value in backing three or more goals in the match at the odds of 2.00 based on everything written above.

Portugal vs Switzerland: Bet Tips
