Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played down Arsenal move

Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has put a full stop to widespread media reports praising him away to Arsenal.

Media reports in recent times have linked the Gabon international to several European big Clubs, predominantly a 30 million euro move to North London Club, Arsenal.

The 26-year-old who picked up the 2015 Glo-CAF African Best Player accolade on Thursday, January 7 in Abuja, Nigeria said this when asked about a potential move to Arsenal.

“Let me say this first, I am not going to Arsenal, Dortmund is my club and I am not leaving soon, ” he revealed to the Media after receiving the award.

Aubameyang put in some phenomenal performance this season which saw him as the first Gabonese to win the African Best Player Award.

The Dortmund attacker has scored 24 goals in 23 outings in all competitions which have seen the German outfit second on the Bundesliga table, eight points short off leaders Bayern Munich.

Chelsea are rumored to be interested and are speculated to be willing to pay 60 million euros to gain his services in January transfer window.

Aubameyang is a long time target of Arsene Wenger and his attempts in the summer was  turned down by Dortmund CEO Watzke.

What motivates Aubameyang to stay at Signal Iduna Park for now is the chance to break the goal scoring record of Dieter Muller, who found the back of the net 34 times for Koln in 1976-77 season. He has already scored 18 this season, now 16 more to go to level the record.

But German legend Gerd Muller’s record of 40 goals in a single season, he achieved in 1971-72 seems unbreakable.
