Peterborough United vs Gillingham: Prediction

Peterborough United conceded three goals in the opening 23 minutes at Turf Moor and it was an early shower and game over for The Posh, as Burnley won 4-2, effectively knocking them out of FA Cup.

In the league, Darren Ferguson’s men hit a bit of a wall on Boxing Day, having lost all three games but they’re still in contention for promotion as The Posh occupy sixth place on League One table and as of today, hold the last ticket for the play offs.

At their own London Road, Peterborough is very hard to play against; their record speaks for themselves. Seven wins and only two defeats in eleven games. Till that Boxing Day loss against Doncaster, they had an unbeaten run in front of their own crowd going back to August.

Gills put in an excellent performance but eventually had to bow out of the FA Cup in 2-0 defeat to much illustrious opponent, Premier League side West Ham United.

After a bunch of hot & cold types of games, Gillingham seems like they’ve found their groove. Currently on a six-game unbeaten run, Steve Evans’s men found themselves at 13th, just three points off their next opponent and desired play offs.

On their excursions, team from Kent is vastly understated. Just one win from eleven games but only three defeats too. Evans seems to set them up to play not to lose and everything else is just a bonus.

Considering how Gills play on the road (or their recent results in general) and looking at their history, their past meetings, I think we won’t be seeing much quality football being played at London Road on Saturday. The Posh have trouble scoring lately so I’m going with Under 2.5 goals.

That same argument is reason why I’d like to go for a Draw. As I said already, one team has trouble recently scoring in the league and another one just doesn’t want to. One bore draw, please.
