Pescara vs Atalanta
Italian Serie A.
Date: Wednesday, 26 October 2016
Kick-Off: 19:45 UK,
Venue: Stadio Adriatico-Giovanni Cornacchia (Pescara).
After a difficult start, Atalanta appear to be slowly getting on track. La Dea have managed to string together a four-match unbeaten run, including three wins during that time frame to quietly move into the top half of the table. Victories against Napoli, and most recently, Inter, will have the visitors full of confidence as they lock horns with Pescara, a team yet to win an actual match this season.
The Delfini were given a 3-0 victory over Sassuolo due to their opponent’s clerical error, but since then, they have unfortunately not been able to come out on top in any of their matches. Pescara presently sit on seven points, just one away from Palermo and Empoli, who occupy two of the relegation spots.
Indeed, Massimo Oddo’s side find themselves in a very uncomfortable position and know that any more bad results will see them right there in the relegation dog-fight. They come into this match having been beaten 3-1 by Udinese – another team scrambling to avoid being sucked into the relegation zone – and are taking on an Atalanta side feeling more and more confident in each passing round.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s methodology appears to be finally taking hold for Atalanta, who have also began to tighten things up in defense. They showed great fortitude to keep Napoli and Fiorentina frustrated and scoreless, and rebounded well after Inter attempted to equalize in last weekend’s all-Nerazzurri derby. In fact, they have conceded just two goals in their past four league games. Pescara, by contrast, look to be a side who simply cannot catch a break, and their misery does not look set to be abating any time soon.

Pescara vs Atalanta: Prediction
Atalanta have really improved over the past few rounds and so should be able to make it a fifth game sans defeat. La Dea have an excellent record against Pescara. As noted before, they have kept clean sheets in five out of their six away meetings with the Delfini.
Meanwhile, one cannot help but pity the hosts, who really are trying but simply cannot get things right. Their home turf has yet to offer them any respite, as their “win” was at Sassuolo’s home ground, and they have yet to be able to keep their opponents from scoring, either. They will do everything they can to shut out Atalanta, but it will be in vain as La Dea are growing in confidence with each passing match.
However, given the fact that there have been under 2.5 goals in Pescara’s last three home games, do not be surprised if this is not a goal-fest. Atalanta should be able to do enough to claim at least a point from this game, nonetheless, so we are going with the double chance here.
