Peru vs Ecuador
International Friendlies
Date: Thursday, 15 November 2018
Kick-Off at 21:00 UK / 22:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Nacional de Lima (Lima).

Peru will be hoping to end the year with two wins in matches against Ecuador and Costa Rica. It has generally been a successful year for Los Incas who left a strong mark at the biggest stage this summer in Russia.

Even though the Peruvians saw an early group stage exit finishing behind France and Denmark, they were not outplayed in any of three games on the occasion. Peru narrowly lost to the likes of Netherlands and Germany (2-1 each) in post-World Cup friendlies, but bounced back in an impressive fashion later on. The team led by Ricardo Gareca stormed past Chile 3-0 with a brace from Pedro Aquino. They went on to play a 1-1 draw to United States days after away in Connecticut.

Peru vs Ecuador: Head-to-head

Ecuador were the more successful side over the course of history, but they found it tough to handle Los Incas in the most recent set of H2H fixtures.

Peru won three and drew one of last four encounters against Los Amarillos.

Both teams scored in each of last three head to head outings.

Peru vs Ecuador: Prediction

Ecuadorians will try and forget 2018 as soon as possible. They got nowhere near qualifying for the World Cup. They lost as many as five of last eight outings across competitions (including friendlies and qualifiers).

The team led by Hernan Gomez left a poor impression in a pair of friendlies last month against Qatar and Oman. Los Amarillos were clearly expected to pick up more than a draw and a defeat against such rivals.

Ecuador shipped as many as four goals to Qatar before drawing 0-0 to Oman. Given they are to play a much stronger opposition on Thursday evening, we can’t but back the hosts to cling the victory in Lima. Peru were generally tough to break down of late which is why we will alternatively back them to keep a clean sheet here.
