Peru vs Ecuador
International – Friendlies
Date: Friday, 6 September 2019
Kick-off at 02:00 UK / 03:00 CET
Venue: Red Bull Arena (USA).
Peru had an eventful Copa America campaign which saw them go all the way to the finals, where they lost out to the eventual champions Brazil. However, the squad have every reason to be proud of themselves as they took down quite a few notable names, including the front runner Chile, to be one of the last two teams in the tournament.
However, Ricardo Gareca’s men have not been as impressive in their previous international friendlies and have picked up just two wins from their last four.
Ecuador, on the other hand, could not even make it past the group stages this time, as they finished at the bottom of their group with zero wins to their name, that too below the guest participants Japan. Furthermore, they managed to find the back of the net no more than twice throughout their dismal run, which was also the least by any team in their table.
As far as friendlies are concerned, Ecuador have not tasted success in any of their clashes since the start of this year.
Although the fixture on Friday will be taking place at a neutral arena, the bragging rights are more than likely to swing in favor of Peru, especially with the dominant form that they portrayed in the Copa.

Peru vs Ecuador Prediction
Garcia’s men showed what they were capable of earlier this summer and will be hoping to extend their positive run of form when they take on Ecuador this week. The runners up of the 2019 Copa America have been handed a defeat just four times in their last ten games, two of which, to their defense, was against the ever dominant Brazil.
Their counterparts have not been a force to reckon with, in comparison, and have been at their worst when it comes to trips on the road. Additionally, Ecuador have just one win to boast of from their last five clashes with Peru. Given that they have also sacked head coach Hernan Dario Gomez from the managerial reigns, it is certainly safe to say that the squad are in no shape to get the better of Peru in this one.
Nevertheless, three of their last four meetings have seen both teams get their names on the scoresheet. Considering that Ecuador did find the back of the net in their last two games in a row as well, count on neither side to make it out of the ninety minutes with a clean sheet intact.
