Peru vs Brazil
Date: Saturday, 22 June 2019
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Arena Corinthians (Sao Paulo).
Venezuela played spoilsport to both of these teams, and now, it’s a virtual final to determine the group champions. Anything short of a first-place finish in Group A, and to be frank, the Copa competition too would let the blood flow from the not-yet-healed wounds of the Brazilians. A win is mandatory, and we can expect a nail-biter this weekend.
The Selecao had registered a win in their opener against Bolivia but failed to repeat the feat against the Venezuelans, as VAR ruled out two of their goals. While the absence of Neymar Jr was thought not to make that much of an impact, it’s proving to be untrue.
Peru came up short against the same obstacle where the hosts had fallen but managed to win against Bolivia in the second game. It was a come-back victory too, and confidence will surely be soaring.
The Peruvians conceded a first-half penalty, and things were starting to look tough. But right at the end of the first 45 minutes, they hit back to equalize the scoreline at 1-1. Later, they added two more goals, the third one coming in the 90+6th minute.

Peru vs Brazil Prediction
This is going to be tough. Hear me out. On paper, Brazil seems to be the overwhelming favorite, but their gameplay has not impressed even fans yet. In the first game, they were expected to sing their way to three points, but minnows Bolivia kept them at bay for 50 minutes, before conceding. Even then, it took some individual magic.
Their next fixture was against Venezuela, and against all odds it ended a goalless draw. The weak Venezuelans kept the mighty Goliath from scoring, and at their own backyard.
Say what you want about Neymar Jr, but his absence is surely not something to be taken lightly, which was the prevalent mood before the commencement of the competition.
Now, both these squads take the pitch in hopes of becoming the group champions. Take note that, Peru has impressed with their defense and has let in just a single goal from their two games, and as such, the four combined matches between these squads, saw a total of one conceded goal.
The Peruvians have a chance to end the group-topper, should they record a win here. We can expect them to defend like crazy, and the misfiring Brazilian offense could be kept at bay for at least the first 45 minutes. Moreover, with so much at stake, and two great backlines at play, we can count on the game to be a low goal-scoring affair.
