Pellegrini made final Confession: Guardiola appointment destabilized the team

Pellegrini’s Side made it to the Champions league playoff ahead of their local rivals Manchester United on the final day of the premier league after their 1-1 draw with Swansea City, Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal gave them the lead in the 5th minute which was later equalised by Andrew Ayew in the 45th Minute.

The outgoing manager has made some confessional suggestion saying that Manchester City’s mid-season announcement of the incoming manager Pep Guardiola played a big role in their premier league title bid slumber as they fought hard to finish in the fourth position.

Manuel Pellegrini’s 3 season in charge at the Etihad stadium recorded a Premier League, title (2013-14 season) and league Cup title, but this season his side finished 15 points below the Winners Leicester City and were eliminated in the Semi Finals of the Uefa champions League by Real Madrid.

Pellegrini’s men fell to Leicester City in a 3-1 defeat in February at the end of the weekend after the Club’s authorities announced Guardiola’s switch from Bayern Munich and the Chilean told Sky Sports after the final game against Swansea saying that the announcement affected the mood in the dressing room.

“In the Premier League, that’s so important, we finished may be not where we wanted”, the Manager said.

“In the whole year we were competing for a spot in the Champions League so I think we deserved a spot in Champions League. Over year we were near top of the table. In February a lot of things happened that I don’t want to start analysing.”

“We lost 2 games at home against Leicester and Tottenham, at the same moment that everyone announced what will happen next year. I think the atmosphere was not the best to fight for the title.”

The manager also showed his love Manchester City and the supporters and also recalled a very special memorable day that ended with him giving out his jacket to a fan in the away end at the as commanded by Yaya Toure.

The manager also feels he has had a successful campaign with the Club this year
“If you analyse our season we won Capital one cup, we reached for the first time the semi-final of Champions league,” he said “maybe we didn’t play well, but the only difference with Real Madrid was an own goal.

“Before then, unfortunately we couldn’t continue in the FA Cup. We had to prioritize the competition because we had too many injuries in that moment that we couldn’t recover completely.”

“If you add all those things it’s a good season, not a very, very good season, but a good one.
Meanwhile Manchester United’s final match against AFC Bournemouth was postponed due to bomb reports, a suspicious package was reportedly discovered at Old Trafford which was described as “an incredibly lifelike explosive device” but test later confirmed it wasn’t viable.
