Panama face Bolivia in the opening match of the Group D fixture of the Copa America Centenario edition at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
Panama are an invited team in the competition and they alongside Bolivia are the two weakest teams in the group which also includes South American heavy weights Argentina and Chile. The Los Canaleros are not in the best of the forms, but have a history of making a strong statement in tournaments. They finished third in last year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup after beating USA on penalties and were semi-finalists in the previous two editions. Panama played two warm-up matches this month as preparation for the tournament, 0-0 draw against Venezuela and a 0-2 loss to Brazil.
Bolivia were quarter finalists in the last edition of Copa America after eliminating group favorites Mexico and a strong Ecuador. They got the pedigree, but their current form is far from impressive. The La Verde have now lost four matches in succession and their 4-0 loss to USA is a sign of what to expect from them in coming weeks.

Panama vs Bolivia: Head-to-Head Stats
Panama were victorious in the last two matches played against Bolivia, both international friendlies played in the same year of 2011.
In their latest meeting, Bolivia were beaten 3-1 at the on August 2011. Took the lead after 7 minutes through Juan Carlos Arce, but two goals within 10 minutes from Luis Tejada put Panama in front and the tally was completed by a Armando Cooper goal in the injury time.
The previous meeting was in the March of the same year, Panama won it 2-0, Gabriel Gomez and Luis Renteria found the back on the net on either halves.
Panama vs Bolivia: Prediction
The match is of higher significance for both sides as whoever wins it have a chance of qualifying from the group if they are able to upset one of the bigger teams in the group.
Bolivia’s current form gives little to hope for and they are coming on the back of 9 defeats in their last 10 games in all competitions. They haven’t scored in their last two matches, but conceded an alarming 11 goals in their last four, a rate of 2.75 goals per match.
Panama has been tipped as favourites to win this match by the bookmakers as they were victorious in the two matches they played against Bolivia. But their scoring form will be a concern here as they have scored just once in their last five matches.
Both teams are very likely to give their all in this fixture in order to grab a win and push closer to qualify from the group. This is a very risky match to predict, but I would like to go against the odds and back Bolivia to repeat the heroics of last Copa and come on top at the final whistle.
Score Prediction: Panama 0-1 Bolivia.
Recommended Bet: Double Chance – Bolivia/Draw (odds @ 1.72)
Best Bet: Bolivia to win (odds 3.80)
Risky Bet: Both teams to score and Bolivia to win (odds 9.00)
