Palmeiras vs America Mineiro
2018 Copa do Brasil
Date: Thursday, 24 May 2018
Kick-Off at 01:45 UK
Venue: Allianz Parque (Sao Paulo).
Palmeiras host America MG for the return match of their Copa do Brazil clash on the back of a 1-2 win earned at Estadio Raimundo Sampaio, hoping to seal the deal and make their way to the Quarterfinals over the recently shaky rivals.
Verdao have thus bagged five wins in their last six outings across competitions and suffered just one loss (1-0 at Corinthians) along the way, which will surely have their team spirits running high. They’ve been great in the attacking third and coming into the match on the back of a 3-0 win over Bahia will surely be a confidence booster of its own as well.
America MG, on the other hand, travel to Allianz Parque amid an unpredictable spell of form and their 1-0 win over Botafogo on Sunday only ended a streak of three games without a win. They’ve been beaten by both Vasco da Gama and Palmeiras and saw an unconvincing 2-2 draw at Ceara – which doesn’t feel all that reassuring for Enderson Moreira’s men.
The 1-2 win earlier in May was the third consecutive win for Palmeiras in head-to-head clashes.
We’ve seen them bag a comfortable 2-0 home win in their last matchup here, with goals from Gabriel Jesus.
America MG have last beaten Palmeiras in June 2013, snatching a Serie B win at Estádio Municipal Dr. Novelli Junior.
We will also go for a narrower contest with few goals on the day, backing Under 2.5 goals FT at 1.95 as we don’t believe we’ll see the visitors get on the score-sheet.
The last five home games of Palmeiras saw fewer than 3 goals as well as America’s last five on the road, which does give us further evidence.
Palmeiras certainly look good to build on the success in the first leg and their red-hot recent form, going for a Home win to Nil at 2.00; in the hope we’ll see a confident display and their fourth clean sheet in five home outings.
Palmeiras to win to Nil @ 2.00
Under 2.5 goals FT @ 1.95.
