Oxford United vs Rotherham United: Prediction
Four second half goals helped Oxford United overcome a brave Hartlepool side in an inspiring 4-1 overturn and progress through to the fourth round of the FA Cup where they’ll meet either Rochdale or Newcastle United.
The Boys from Up the Hill, sitting at fantastic 4th, has overcame a disastrous start of the season and went on a unbeaten run in the league that lasted very impressive three months before laying weapons in front of MK Dons. They’ve recovered rather quickly by winning three in a row before losing to Doncaster on January 1st.
Karl Robinson’s men are ridiculously good in Oxford, having won seven in ten games, losing only to Burton Albion way back in August. From September onwards, only Shrewsbury survived at Kassam Stadium in a 0-0 draw.
Despite playing the vast proportion of the game with just ten-men, Rotherham United came within a whisker of extending their FA Cup run but Tom Eaves came back to haunt his former club with a well-taken hat-trick, including a overtime game winner.
The Millers are always expected to get straight back to the Championship following last year’s relegation and so far Paul Warne had his men on the right course, as they’re just three points behind league leaders Wycombe, riding on a confidence boost from their current five-games unbeaten League One run.
Rotherham is second best away team in the league, having managed impressive 23 points from twelve games, losing only thrice, with most recent disappointment being excursion to Portsmouth where they were beaten in a thrilling fashion after catching up to Pompey two times.
Oxford’s latest doesn’t exactly inspire confidence for what I’m about to propose but if we take into account their head-to-head history, The Miller’s devil-may-care attitude on the road, over 2.5 goals should come to fruition.
Using the same logic, I’m more than willing to back both of these fine units to score. Their encounters are usually very open games, with goals freely flowing so… Let’s do it one more time.
