Odd vs Haugesund
Norway – Eliteserien
Date: Sunday, 11 March 2018
Kick-Off at 17:00 UK
Venue: Skagerak Arena (Skien).
Odd and Haugesund are going to face each other in the opening round of Norwegian Eliteserien. The hosts want to find their place in the top half of the table once more, while the away side is looking to improve this season after the bad finish in the last one.
Home side had a pretty decent last season and they finished as the 6th team on the table. Interestingly, Dag Fagermo’s side was the least efficient one in the competition with just 27 goals scored, which is less than one per match in average. Odd were playing excellent at home pitch and were one of the best sides by that parameter. They allowed only two defeats in front of their fans and won more than 75% of their total points at home ground. If they want the repetition of the last campaign, they need to keep performing well at home and improve their away displays in compare to the last season.
The visitors finished their last campaign as the 10th placed side, however they were competitive for the top five spots until the very end of the season. In the closing five games, they didn’t manage to win a single point and spoiled a very good impression which they left until that point. Haugesund were pretty active in the transfer window and their biggest signing is Babajide Akintola who will be in charge of scoring goals. The visitors were playing fairly good on away grounds, but they were defeated in the last four outings. They are set for another season where they should be able to find their place in the top half of the table.
Odd vs Haugesund: Head-to-head
Odd have been much more successful lately and they have celebrated three consecutive league wins against their opposition. Their head to head clashes are not well-known as the high scoring ones.
Odd vs Haugesund: Prediction
If we take a look at their pre-season matches, Odd showed better performances and managed to keep the clean sheet in the last four matches. They are slight favourites for booking a win from this one.
It seems that the hosts won’t be changing their style of playing and they will be very hard to crack. They faced each other a month ago in a friendly game which ended with a goalless draw. This one could also stay under 2.5 margin.
