Nice vs Lorient
French Ligue 1
Date: Sunday, 2nd October
Kick-Off at 16:00 BST
Venue: Allianz Riviera (Nice).
First place plays 17th in what should be a straight win for the home side. Nice have been a revelation this season and lead Ligue 1 having won 3 of their past five games and drawing the other two.
Nice are the only unbeaten team in Ligue 1 and at home they have collected 10 from a possible 12 points. The last home game they played they ended Monaco’s unbeaten run by destroying them 4-0 and the only team to have troubled them was Lille when they came here and drew 1-1.
The only problem for Nice is that they lost 5-2 to Krasnodar in the mid-week Europa League fixture. So whilst Lorient had the luxury of a week off Nice had to travel to Russia. Mario Balotelli was such a thorn in the sides to coaches who have tried to ‘manage’ him has been brilliant for Nice and seems for now to have fitted in very well. Although it’s up in the air if the Italian will play against Lorient since his throat infection was so severe he had to come off at half time in the clubs Europa League match.
Lorient have been very poor this season however they have improved lately where they have recorded 2 wins from their last 3 games. However they were both at home. Away from home Lorient have lost all 3 games and have scored just 2 goals conceding six.
Nice vs Lorient: Head to Head Stats
Nice have won the last two fixture here 2-1 and 3-1. Lorient did win here in 2014 which was just the 2nd time they had done so since the 1990s. Goals wise the last three games at Allianz Riveria between these two has seen more than 2.5 goals.
Nice vs Lorient: Prediction
The odds are really good around 1.75 on Nice to win and there is only one thing that we mentioned before about the travel to Russia that is the negative. Everything else points to a home win.
