Barcelona Director Jordi Mestre says Neymar Dos Santos Jr. ‘will not be sold’ to any Club and insist the side is happy with him.
Speculations have piled up regarding Neymar’s Barcelona future after a poor run of form, which has linked him to stellar Europe side’s like PSG and Manchester United.
Reports also suggest that the recent performances of the Brazil captain has been poor as the Catalan side have picked just one point out of possible 12. And many believe that Neymar is looking at the possibility of taking up a new adventures elsewhere; but Jordi Mestre said it is never in Barca’s plans to sell one of their key players.
“That is something that keeps coming up,” he said, when asked about the transfer rumours linking Neymar to another club.
“But I have said it many times, we are delighted with Neymar.”
“Neymar will not be sold. We have not even thought about doing it.”
Neymar’s performance has been heavily criticised following Barca’s elimination in the Champions League by Athletico Madrid thanks to a 3-2 aggregate victory and losing three La Liga games on a trot.
And club legend Carlos Puyol thinks Barca cannot expect Neymar to do wonders in every game, but expect to put the bad patch behind him.
“You cannot always be at the highest level, ” he said.
“He is still young and he is very professional. We must accept that he cannot always perform at an impressive level. But he will put in great performances again.”
“A bad game for him can still be a good game because he still does spectacular things.”
Neymar joined Barcelona in 2013 and has formed a strong attack with Messi and Luis Suarez. The 24-year old has scored 81 goals in 135 appearances for the Blaugrana so far.
