Newcastle United vs Arsenal
England – Premier League
Date: Sunday, 2nd May 2021
Kick off at 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: St James’ Park.
Newcastle have played some good confident football over the past month and that is why they will stay up this season after looking like relegation contenders at the beginning of the year.
The Magpies don’t have to win this game and they will have a fantastic advantage of knowing Fulham’s result before they play. If all goes to plan Newcastle could be 9 points clear of the bottom three but with only 4 games left to play even if they lose this match.
However we have to believe that Steve Bruce’s side will go into this game and be hungry for the win and beating Arsenal would be a good scalp to have. If all goes well it would be possible to see Newcastle jump 3-4 places with victory so this would be very important for them.
The Magpies have gone their last 4 games unbeaten and their last match at home ended in a 3-2 victory over West Ham. Last weekend they were able to draw 1-1 away to the champions Liverpool, so confidence should be high.
Arsenal recorded a loss in the Europa League semi-final 1st leg against Villarreal in midweek. They were defeated 2-1 and their minds will surely be on the 2nd leg now, it will define their entire season.
The Gunners really cannot do too much more in the league in terms of trying to qualify for Europe next season. They come into this game in 10th place and are 7 points shy of a European position. Last weekend they lost at home to Everton for the first time since 1996.
Mikel Arteta’s side have won just 1 game in their past five and this isn’t a good moment for the club, who could make some key changes and rest players for the Europa League next week.

Newcastle United vs Arsenal: Prediction
This game points to a home victory even though Arsenal are the better side of course. But we have to think of worry and fatigue for the away side.
Arsenal had to travel to Spain in midweek, return to London and then travel another 400 miles to Newcastle. Plus they know this game isn’t important as it could be, and they will all be thinking about the 2nd leg game next week.
Newcastle can relax and enjoy their football, however if Fulham have upset Chelsea we should expect an aggressive and attacking Newcastle side, either way the value is with Newcastle to get the victory.
