Newcastle vs Arsenal
England- Premier League
Date: Sunday, 11 August 2019
Kick-off at 14:00 UK / 15:00 CET
Venue: St. James Park (Newcastle).
The Gunners failed to break into the top four in their previous campaign and came painstakingly close to getting their hands on the Europa Trophy as well. However, lack of consistency in finding the back of the net and delivering in moments when it counted has thwarted Unai Emery of getting his hands on any major silverware in his first year as a manager for the club.
The squad were also plagued with injuries last season, and have also parted ways with two crucial members in their roster, Koscielny and Ramsey.
Newcastle were consigned to a spot in the bottom half of the table, as the team managed just twelve wins out of the thirty-eight that they played. The visitors were far from being at their best towards the end of the season and managed just two wins in their last four clashes.
Getting the better of Arsenal, at home or on the road, has always been tricky for the Magpies. So expect nothing short of an exciting opening clash this weekend with Arsenal sizing up as the contenders to secure all three points in this one.
Newcastle vs Arsenal Head to head (h2h)
- Four out of the last five meetings have seen Arsenal clinch the win.
- Their last encounter saw Arsenal come out on top with a 2-0 scoreline.

- Both teams have found the back of the net in two out of their previous three ties.
Newcastle vs Arsenal Prediction
The hosts have lost just twice in their last six games on home soil, but it needs saying that only one out of those six were against a side from inside the top five. Furthermore, Newcastle have not been faring well against the North London side in their previous meetings here, despite the home advantage under their belt.
Emery will surely be settling for nothing less than the win, so a strong starting eleven is certain to be in the cards. The arrival of Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe will surely be a boost to the squad’s presence in the attacking third as well, so the victory is more than likely to swing in their favor at the end of the ninety minutes.
Three out of their last four clashes here have been high scoring ones, with both sides contributing to the scorecards. Considering that Arsenal have not kept a clean sheet in their last five trips on the road, the chances of a high scoring clash with goals down each end is certainly looming large.
