New York RB will begin their MLS campaign after a successful affair in CONCACAF Champions Legaue where they’ve gained a massive advantage beating Mexican Tijuana 0-2 on the road in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie. The Bulls will have a serious challenge at the start of the domestic campaign given they are up against last term’s Western Conference holders Portland Timbers.
The visitors, however, got off to a disappointing start falling 2-1 away at LA Galaxy last weekend and bouncing back against the likes of New York RB will be anything but an easy task for the team led by Giovanni Savarese.
The Colombian manager, who took charge of the team just in December last year, has reasons to be worried ahead of the trio to NYC since he does not seem to have the man capable of stopping the Bulls’ talisman Bradley Wright-Phillips. One of the league’s best strikers looks to be in a phenomenal shape at the start of the year and he was the one who bagged a brace in the mentioned CONCACAF Champions League victory over Tijuana on Tuesday evening.
Since the Timbers have shipped almost two goals per game on the road last term, we do believe that Jesse Marsch’s side should have plenty of space to create in the final third and bring the fine form from the continental competition into domestic affairs.
